The bottom line

What is Chiropractic?- Chiropractic is a 112 year old philosophy and art that uses the body’s own innate intelligence to heal the body. It does this by removing interferences in the Central Nervous System that then allows the proper information to flow freely to every part if the body, allowing the body to be functioning optimally

Are spinal adjustments safe? - Our techniques are extremely painless, specific and safe. In over 30 years of practice I have never caused injury to the cervical spine. Proof of the incredible softy of chiropractic adjustments is the cost of one malpractice insurance. Our malpractice insurance is the lowest of all the health fields

At what age should chiropractic care begin?-Newborns have received spinal adjustments especially after difficult or traumatic births. Why? To remove nerve interference between the brain and the body (organs and glands). Every child will benefit from a nerve system free of interference. The spinal adjustments are incredibly gentle. They don’t cry at all; one ounce of pressure with the pinky finger tip is the only force applied in the adjustment.

What is your objective?- My primary objective is NOT to diagnose and treat your symptoms. My objective for everyone who enters the front door of my office is the same. My objective deals with the correction of the cause of the problem. Correcting the cause of a problem does not mean that symptoms disappear. My criteria for accepting anyone as a new patient has little to do with the symptoms you have. You will be accepted for care if you have vertebral subluxation. The presence of these vertical subluxations (fixations) causes interference in the communication of information from your brain to your body. My objective is to locate these subluxations (fixations), unlock them and then allow the innate intelligence inside of you to realign your spine so that optimum communication can resume.

What is a Subluxation?-A vertebral subluxation is a condition of the spine in which a vertebra is out of its proper position causing interference in the nervous system. This prevents your Innate intelligence from expressing itself fully (from communicating efficiently). This subluxation causes a breakdown in proper function of your body resulting in an unhealthy state of being. These subluxations are not always related to pain or symptoms.

Why do we use the modified Thompson technique (Accurso Method)? - We truly feel that the reason our practice is so busy is because of the tremendous effectiveness of our “Adjusting Approach.” When combined with the specific and precise Accurso method (which includes a self-adjusting technique) we can often reduce the average cost of spinal correction by 50 percent (compared to the average cost of care of the other chiropractic offices doing similar work) and frequently we do correct the spine in half the time. We are proud of this and our clients appreciate this. This is why we are so busy. Our practice is busy because we get excellent results. In addition to excellent results our clients often become enthusiastic about the body’s ability to heal itself when the nerve system is clear of interference. I am very thankful that my clients take the time to spread this exciting idea to others

Where does philosophy fit in?- “Philosophically, we practice what many call principled chiropractic, this type of chiropractic care does not attempt to cure or treat any condition, nor does it try to make anyone feel better. Principled Chiropractic does not use therapy machines to loosen you up, or heat, or massage, or ultrasound to increase circulation. I don’t feel that these therapies are necessary to re-align the spine, and more often than not, make chiropractic care very expensive. If your body needs heat or circulation then removing the nerve pressure in your spine will allow that part of the body to produce just the right amount of heat or circulation your body needs to heat itself naturally.

By removing nerve pressure (or chord pressure) in the spine, your body can function more powerfully in every way, thus affording your body an opportunity to heal and cure you of many health problems. Your innate intelligence knows how to treat the body and often does so by increasing or decreasing your symptoms. Yes, often your body uses symptoms such as pain, fever, chills, coughing, and diarrhea to return you to a state of health. That is why Principled Chiropractic never tries to alleviate your symptoms. Your body may be using the symptoms in order to return you to health.

We determine which vertebrae to adjust/unlock not depending on the location of your pain but on the location of those areas of the spine that need mobilization. The spinal adjustments are never painful, we never force a spinal segment to move.

Will my symptoms / pains go away? -Our goal is not to make symptoms decrease or increase. Our goal is to re-establish communication between the brain and the physical body so that the body can decrease or increase symptoms when the inborn intelligence that exists within us decides to increase or decrease symptoms.

-Symptoms are the body's attempt to survive.

-The symptoms of coughing when the lung is infected and has congestion can be a wonderful symptom.

-The purpose of pain in a joint (pain of a sprained ankle or low back) is present to prevent certain movements or positions. Using pain killers can cause increased damage to the joints.

-The symptom of diarrhea flushes unwanted material from the body.

-The purpose of most fevers is to fight infections and afford the body a wonderful workout for the immune system.

Be clear about this “symptom” idea. It is often the only method by which the body can return to a state of homeostasis.

The bottom line- “I unlock the spine, and your innate intelligence places the vertebrae into its optimum position; this same innate intelligence does the healing."
